Foresight Practice

Consulting

Foresight and innovation consulting built on the book's method: take an impossible claim, refuse to flinch, and decompose it into a sequence of merely very hard problems.

The working method of the practice: long-horizon questions, decomposed at a desk, one framework at a time.
The Practice

Most organizations plan inside the possible. The interesting decisions live just outside it.

White Noise Totality is, beneath its cosmic surface, a methodology: a disciplined way of reasoning about technologies that do not yet exist, markets that have no precedent, and risks that arrive before their categories do. The consulting practice offers that methodology to teams who face long-horizon questions of their own — founders choosing a north star, research groups picking decade-scale targets, strategists who need their assumptions stress-tested by scenarios bigger than their industry.

The approach is the book's approach. Begin from first principles rather than precedent: ask what the fundamental limits actually are, not what current practice assumes. Map the shadows alongside the light: every capability scenario is paired with its failure modes, from value drift to concentration of power, in the spirit of the stewardship chapters of Part I and Part VII. And decompose relentlessly: a vision is only useful once it has been broken into systems, phases, and feedback loops that someone could actually act on.

This is a foresight practice, not an engineering firm. We do not claim the technologies of the ecosystem are buildable today — we claim that thinking rigorously about them changes what you build today.

Engagements

Three formats, one method

01

Scenario Design

Custom long-horizon scenarios for your domain — built the way the book builds its civilization: internally consistent, decomposed into phases, with risks and governance mapped alongside capability. Useful for strategy offsites, research roadmaps, and board-level horizon scanning.

02

Moonshot Thinking Workshops

Facilitated sessions that teach the first-principles discipline behind frameworks like the W.N. Chip and Project Utopia: how to choose an "impossible" target that accelerates the possible, and how to keep ambition honest about its assumptions.

03

Speculative Engineering Briefs

The book's signature genre, applied to your question: a written brief that treats a far-future capability as an engineering problem — defining characteristics, decomposed subsystems, plausibility analysis, and the research directions it implies.

Process

How an engagement unfolds

Frame the Question

Every cathedral begins with a question. We work with you to find the "why" beneath the brief — the long-horizon uncertainty that actually drives the decision in front of you.

Map the Ambition

We build the maximal scenario first — the full, unflinching version of what the technology or market could become — drawing on the ecosystem's frameworks, from verse economics to superintelligence governance, where they illuminate your domain.

Map the Shadows

Then the risk pass: failure modes, dependencies, ethical exposures, and concentration dynamics — because a scenario without its shadows is marketing, not foresight.

Decompose to Action

Finally, the climb-down: the scenario is decomposed until it touches the present — the experiments, hires, watch-points, and positions that make sense now, whatever the far future does.

"What distinguishes this from mere optimism is its insistence on decomposition: every grand claim is broken into systems, phases, and feedback loops."

Who It Serves

For teams that think in decades

The practice suits research institutions choosing north-star programs; deep-tech founders positioning against ten-year horizons; strategy and innovation teams who need scenarios stress-tested from outside their industry's consensus; and writers, studios, and world-builders who want speculative settings with genuine internal consistency — the same consistency that holds the product constellation together.

Engagements are bespoke and deliberately few. To enquire, write via the contact page with a sentence on the question you are facing and the horizon you care about.

A note on plausibility. The consulting practice trades in frameworks and foresight, not in the technologies themselves — which remain speculative constructs from a visionary book. No engagement constitutes scientific validation of the ecosystem's concepts, and no deliverable should be read as a claim that any White Noise technology exists or is imminent. The method is real; the machines are a map of ambition.
